Magmad is a city of magic. It has a barrier protecting it made of magics said to have been conjured by the Grand Wizard, though he does not confirm nor deny this. Another feature that stands out is the place's three levels of land. The lowest level is where most of the citizens live, though there's a decent number of shady areas, you will find a lot more friendly faces who understand their economic struggles all too well. One tier up is those who winded up with some degree of success. This usually happens by achieving a decent affinity for magic, along with some degree of morale, though some climbed up here by success of their business. On the higher layer is the nobles and those who have achieved great financial success. These people tend to have particular social circles. Some highly successful mages wind up here as well. Some fancy businesses are located here as well, including one hotel and a spa that Crissie runs. Deeper on this highest level is the castle where the wizard elders are. While entry is regulated, those seeking knowledge in magic are usually invited to read the archives, which are located here. Those serious about success in their magical field will wind up at the archives at one point or another.
Within Magmad there are two people of remark who businesses keep an eye out for, whether for good or bad reason varies. Amy is a regular inspecter of businesses and will check in on them from time to time, sometimes with notice and sometimes with no notice. No notice is more likely when there are complaints or suspicion that a business is breaking regulations. Of course there are a lot more inspecters than Amy, but she seems to be the most reputable one, as not only is she looking for rule violations, but she also checks for problems that may cause a business stress in the future and brings those items to attention. The other inspector is one that some businesses and people tend to fear, Davy. Davy is Amy's boss and when she finds a business is breaking serious rules, she reports this to him. Amy makes followup visits to see if a business will remedy them. If they have still not resolved all the important rules or are practising evasive techniques, her third visit will be with Davy. These visits are always accompanied by a strong thunderstorm with blowing rain. All businesses are well aware what these storms mean when not in forecast, though when this weather is in forecast it is typically less apparent. If even one violation of moderate or serious nature is found during this visit, the person in charge, any accomplaces in the illegal practices and sometimes even the owner are wisked away into the storm with Davy. From there only rumours claim what happens to these individuals. The business is also closed down due to violations, but victims of the business's practices will find new work. Amy and Davy will ensure this happens. When Davy is not taking part in these uncommon "raids", he takes care of a good portion of the paperwork for the inspection agency. He greatly desires finding "The Underground" to capture personal there, but Amy has only found the place once, and never again from that spot.
